Standard Construction

Security grilles, registers, security diffusers and security bar grates (security duct barriers) are available in a wide variety of standard types and styles. Custom configurations to meet almost any special requirement are also are available.

All security grilles, registers and diffusers are available in steel; many are also available in aluminum or stainless steel. Finish options are shown below:

Security grates (duct barriers) are available in standard steel or with various combinations of hardened steel round, ribbed or flat bars. KEES has a full line of grates incorporating hardened bars meeting ASTM A-627 and ASTM A-629 standards.

The American Society for Testing Methods currently offers 2 standards for detention equipment. These may not be applicable to products in all jail or prison work and must be specified in order to be provided.

A627 Current standard dated 1994
Covers 7/8” dia. and 1” dia. bars only for use in jail cell walls.
