ENERGY SAVING (SUMMER/WINTER) OVERHEAD GREASE EXHAUST HOODS
Energy Saving
(Summer/Winter) hoods introduce untempered outside air directly into the
hood (in the same manner as the KS-100) and/or into the kitchen through
adjustable air outlets in the face of the hood, thus reducing room air
exhaust, providing "no cost" cooling and lowering energy usage.
This concept may be used when code requirements for exhaust air exceed
the amount required to fully exhaust the smoke, heat and grease generated
by the cooking equipment.
STANDARD
CONSTRUCTION
Energy Saving Summer/Winter grease exhaust hoods are double wall type
constructed of 18 gauge, type 304 stainless steel with a satin polish.
All exterior seams are continuously welded, liquid tight, and are ground
and polished to match the original finish of the material. Supply air
is delivered to the interior of the hood through patented adjustable
air nozzles (U.S. Patent No. 4,117,833) and can be discharged from the
face of the hood through aluminum double deflection registers. Air flow
is controlled by a face operated insulated damper. The supply air plenum
has a full length perforated metal air distribution plate and is insulated
with 1", 3# density rigid aluminum foil faced insulation with all
joints hot sealed with aluminum foil tape. The hood end panels are double
wall construction with 1" thick, 3# density insulation. The hoods
are UL and NSF listed, meet the requirements of NFPA 96 and the National
Electrical Code. The hoods include incandescent light fixtures on approximately
3 foot centers wired to a junction box on top of the hood, full length
pitched grease trough with removable grease cup, aluminum baffle type
filters, hanger brackets and factory installed collars and supply air
fire damper.

OPTIONS AND ACCESSORIES
Available options include: pitched hood (shorten the front height for
mounting in low ceiling applications; 24 inch minimum front height),
welding hood sections together for single piece construction longer
than 12' (16' maximum single piece length), supply air balancing damper,
stainless steel registers, exhaust air fire damper, standoff spacer
on back of hood (uninsulated or insulated), fluorescent lights, no lights,
stainless steel baffle filters, Flame Gard filters, loose or mounted
switches & pilot lights, 16 or 14 gauge construction, end skirts,
back splash (uninsulated or insulated), top enclosures, finished back
on wall hood (wall hood used for a single island application), painted
hood exterior, cabinet on end of hood for mounting fire suppression
hardware and/or controls, and installed fire protection.
SIZE AVAILABILITY
S-W hoods are available in a single section in any increment of length
from 4' to 16' (two sections recommended for hoods over 12' in length).
Longer lengths are obtained by butting multiple sections together utilizing
factory supplied welded joint covers. S-W hoods are available in any
increment of capture width from 3' to 5' 6". The height for non-pitched
hoods can vary in any increment from 2' to 3', the minimum front height
for pitched hoods is 2' 0".
S-W island hoods are two or more wall hoods back to back. The S-W island
hood is available as a single island hood in a single section up to
12' long by 8' wide.
